Fraser Woodbury: People’s Choice IIDA Northland FAB Awards

Friday, April 19th, 2019

IIDA Northland’s 16th annual FAB Awards recognizes Interior Design projects that celebrate Fresh, Artistic, Brilliant design. Fraser Woodbury was recognized by industry peers as this year’s project that best meets the FAB values.

Project entries ranged from healthcare to hospitality, workplace to education, and community to multi-family housing. Pope Architects was honored to attend the event and represent the collective project team.

Fraser Woodbury is an innovative clinic for the treatment of children with special needs. The challenge was balancing three goals – supporting sensory-sensitive children and their families, creating a beautiful environment, and meeting durability requirements.

The experience of each user (children receiving treatment, caregivers, siblings, therapists and staff) is elevated through specific approaches creating a consistent, sensory sensitive environment. Evidence-based design informed strategies for daylighting, lighting, acoustics, wayfinding, thermal comfort and indoor air quality, enhancing treatment outcomes for children and their families.
